Hell, I came up with something pretty simple that both still keeps that "idea" of a multi-step fast CD while also bringing back a favorite--Blood Price. There are definitely options that exist. WebOblation is effectively like a TBN that doesn't cost mana, its purpose is to add an extra layer of mitigation that can be pooled, stored, and given to anyone without much cost (much less cost then TBN itself). It isn't super strong, but it is free outside of needing to weave it during your gcd so it isn't hard to place somewhere.
