But the word is also often used to describe things that actually happen because of these ideas. For example, adventurers and armies travel abroad, and try to get other people to do what they want. WebImperialism is a term used to describe the ideas, beliefs, and actions that one group uses to justify and hold control over the others. Colonialism is the experience of the other groups who are being ruled. But again, these last two terms are, in practice, sometimes used interchangeably.
