WebOttan Thullal is a recite-and-dance art-form of Kerala, India. It was introduced in the eighteenth century by Kunchan Nambiar, one of the Prachina Kavithrayam . The folksy performance, often laced with humour intended at criticism of society, is accompanied by a mridangam and/or the handy idakka besides a pair of ilathalam cymbals. WebThullal is a solo dance performance which was attributed by Kunchan Nambiar one of the foremost poet and veritable genius of Kerala. There are three types of Thullal prevalent in Kerala like Ottan Thullal, Sheethankan Thullal and Parayan Thullal. Unlike other dance forms Thullal is not rigid and the songs are in simple Malayalam.
